The brave and good at fighting and levying heavy taxes, Hou Jie (played by Andy Lau), a warlord young commander who was regarded as a brother, was betrayed by Cao Man (played by Nicholas Tse), who was regarded as his brother, so that his wife Yan Xi (played by Fan Bingbing) left and his daughter died. The hatred made him feel in pain. During this period, he met Wu Dao (played by Jackie Chan), a cooking monk who had lived in Shaolin kitchen for a long time and had a high understanding of Buddhism. Finally, he inspired Hou Jie to understand the Zen theory, and turned his enemies into friends with three young monks Jingneng (played by Wu Jing), Jinghai (played by Yu Shaoqun), and Jingkong (played by Shi Yanneng) in Shaolin Temple.
