overview
this play tells people about the love and marriage of women in four different eras, reflecting the process of changing love and marriage relationships with the times. aaa in the late qing dynasty, the daughter of the daughter wei yufeng (played by charmaine sheh), was a scholar and ritual. she grew up with her childhood sweetheart with the chef yu ci (played by ma dezhong), and the two had a secret relationship. unfortunately, the wei family declined later, and yu feng was forced to marry wang yulin, the second-generation ancestor of the taishi family. yulin spent too much money and soon lost his family business. at this time, yu ci had already become an imperial chef and learned cooking skills. he wanted to take yu feng away and start over. yu feng couldn't bear to see the wang family decline, so she sold the jade chopsticks that yu ci gave to her and opened a small restaurant - phoenix tower. later, yu feng and yu ci were both killed in the accident. phoenix tower witnessed the unfinished love between the two. during the may fourth movement, yufeng's daughter jun (played by charmaine sheh) fell in love with li jixiang (played by ma dezhong), a young teacher who already had a fiancée. zijun didn't want to die like her mother who only had an unfinished love, so she kept expressing her feelings to jixiang. jixiang was finally moved and the two elope to tianjin together. unfortunately, the two broke up and jixiang joined the revolution, while zijun went home to take care of the phoenix tower. in the end, the two found out that they still loved each other deeply, but unfortunately jixiang had to leave the revolution again, leaving zijun and his daughter behind. ...
